A lot of italian arms had a three lame system, and a fairly deep cop.
So there would be one above, and two below. You can do an almost complete articulation range with less than 1/4 inch gapping with a set up like that. but the lames still won't pop open. I guess I'm just picky that way,I have the luxury of a day job that pays my bills-so I can be a perfectionist.
how does elbow articulation work?

Re: how does elbow articulation work?
On Tuesday I managed to bang out a couple of new elbows to work with. Its now time to make the lames and I just wanted to know if there was any advice ir techniques regarding late 14th century elbows that I could use.
I shall post pictures of the elbows soon.

here are some pics of the elbows as they currently are, i know they are rough, they've only got a few hours of work on them and i havent planished it yet if that counts as an excuse.
What would be the next step to articulate these elbows?

I think the side view show that the lines look too straight, I think they should be more arched. This other than aestetic will improve the articulation movement.

They don't seem to be too straight. Ch 13 are quite flat as well

the sides should be more arched? what about from the front?
Re: how does elbow articulation work?
The turner lame must be circular in order for the vambrace to rotate. The more circular the opening of the cop, the easier time you will have getting from there to a circular turner.

i'm not planning to put in a turner lame, i dont think the french had too many of them.
what about the pivot hole? is it in an appropriate place?
I'm still trying to figure out how much of a gap is acceptable for late 14th century elbows.
