EBay helm(edit- not worth it)

Post by MicRidley »

Edit: posters bellow have had experience with this manufacture and recognized it to be a cheap overseas product not worth the money.

No tie bar(s) between the horizontal bars. I'm no marshal but I'd bounce it based on the grill alone.
Are those brass grill bars?

If the bars stay in place, the bars stay in place, they are probably brass plated. It looks less than minimum standards but I am not an expert at pictures on the internet.

Ah good catch.

I didn't look close enough.

I'll edit post.

Why even put bars on it if it's not to make it legal?

This is one of the really ultra super-crappy helms made in India by Deepeeka to try and break into the SCA market - without even finding out our construction rules.

Even worse, they and many of their retailers ALSO market this pile of shit as a 'historical' helm. I would be REALLY surprised if it is anything near thick enough, never mind the reconstructive dental surgery that wearing that grille will get you.

i have reworked one of these to make it legal for youth combat. the metal is quite thin and would not stand up to any type of rattan fighting though. at best i would say it is 18 gauge.
