Age of Craft - Review
I ordered gauntlets from age of craft they were very attentive to make sure the measurements were correct. My brig mittens shipped on the 2/3 and I received them on 2/16 from the Ukraine to WV. They fit like a glove and will be tested at Ymir in 2 weeks. Thank you Ilias & Roman. I would definitely recommend their work and I will do business with them in the future!!!
Thanks again,

Let us know how you like them - I have been admiring those for my crusader kit.

I have a set. They protect well. The leather gets torn up in steel fighting, but other than that no real complaints.

That's superfast, considering they still deliver mail by mule in WV.

How stiff are they?
When I tried a pair of the fingered gauntlets I found them much too stiff in the fingers and wrist for me to use my hands properly

How do these resist the crushing or downward force of heavier weapons? I get the cut protection, but how does it handle the mass of a hit?

Steel or rattan fighting? I have a pair, and I've been really pleased with them, but they are NOT good for anything outside of sword and shield duels-longsword or polearm with them is asking for a broken finger.treville wrote:How do these resist the crushing or downward force of heavier weapons? Fantastic for what they're intended for though.

In steel. Although I'd be reluctant for polearm rattan fighting too, since smashing your hands between two heavy shafts gets pretty punishing even with good gauntlets.

Was curious because I was looking at getting a pair of finger, though everyone I've talked to says they work fine for polearm, sting but stand up all the same...this makes me wonder alittle though.

That sounds like story time!Hrolfr wrote:Ask HRH Atlantia DietrichMarauder_Pilot wrote:In steel. Although I'd be reluctant for polearm rattan fighting too, since smashing your hands between two heavy shafts gets pretty punishing even with good gauntlets.
Seriously, though, they MAY be fine when it comes to rattan polearms and such. I don't have any rattan experience, but as I understand it the rattan stuff is a little lighter, and, more practically, you're not going into the duel environments that get your fingers smashed between two heavy-ass wood sticks.
That being said, when I got my pair, I put them on to see how they stood up to steel longsword fighting, and literally IMMEDIATELY got one thumb smashed to pieces. So, take what you will. I love love love them for sword and shield, and I always wear one on any hand holding a shield or buckler at the very least.
Re: Age of Craft - Review
When talking about fingers getting smashed for rattan polearm fighting, are we referring to the finger version or the mitten version? Thanks!

Re: Age of Craft - Review
I figured the mittens would definitely be enough for polearm...hmmm crazy.

From the Ukraine to a third world country in the middle of nowhere in less than two weeks? That's pretty impre.
