Does anyone know who made this helmet?

Post by CorwinGrendel »

Hello,

I bought this helmet 25 years ago in Ohio. It served me well until I retired it for a lighter one.

I'm just trying to figure out who made, as I can't remember. Not a big deal, just nostalgia.

The dents in the skull happened while being worn, yes, ouch.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Looks like an early piece by Illusion Armoring if I had to guess. However, I'm not much older than the helmet, so that is just a guess based on what I know the market...

That would have been my guess as well. It looks a bit like their newer burgs.

Thank you both. I was thinking the same thing. I purchased the helm in 1991 from a man who had ordered it, but never got to wear it because he hurt his back at his job. I'm not sure if I ever knew who he got it from.

The thing is a beast, well over twenty pounds. It served me well for my first 15 years before I got a stainless steel bascinet. It is a great helm, I still loan it out to new fighters with big heads. It has a pin lock on the other side.

It would be cool if it an Illusion helm, I getting a new sallet from him. Maybe I should email him and ask, might like to see an old helm still in service.
