Off topic... historical art prints

Post by woodwose »

I still have some nice high quality art prints left from when I worked at the print shop...
First up are two prints of paintings by Pieter Bruegel the Elder.
These are "The Triumph of Death" and "Netherlandish Proverbs" (links go to Wikipedia pages for each of the original paintings).
At roughly 23x33 or so inches, these are printed approximately half the size of the original paintings. They are printed from very high resolution images on archival quality cotton rag paper. I've done a bit of editing on each to remove little white spots that were probably from camera flash reflecting off the varnished surface of the originals, and take out some of the cracks and other blemishes that occurred on the originals over time (more so on the Triumph of Death). These prints were then laminated onto masonite hardboard, with a semi-gloss plastic film over them that sort of emulates the gloss of a varnished painting, also the film is protective against 99% of UV light to keep these from fading for a very long time. The overall effect I was going for was more faux painting than an art-print poster. They can be framed, but come ready to hang with hanging hardware on the back.

Please forgive my low quality cell phone pictures of these, but I feel a picture of the actual product is better than no picture (and details can be seen through the Wikipedia links above).

bump!
...and here's the other one I've been meaning to post. This one is an enlarged print of Albrecht Durer's "Knight, Death, and the Devil". It is enlarged to 18x23.5" and printed with an additional 1.5" border around the image. This one is also laminated to hardboard with the same protective film as the first two, but float mounted rather than flush mounted. The actual product looks much better than in my craptastic cell phone pictures. Comes with a hanging wire on the back, but also has a key-hole sort of slot for hanging (I find those slots to be a pain in the butt).
Price for this one is $160

...and another one:

This one is smaller... about 6"x9". This one is once again laminated to panel (3/8" masonite) with a satin finish UV protective film over it like the others. It has a keyhole style slot on the back for hanging.

This is a composite image I put together from a painting of a woman by Lucas Cranach (I changed the color of her dress from green to black/dark blue to better fit the Memento Mori theme), parts of hieronymus bosch's "Garden of Earthly Delights", and Philippe de Champagne's "Still-Life with a Skull".

Asking $50 for this one.

Here is a better (though lower resolution that what I actually printed) picture of the actual image, though the UV coating seemed to darken it a bit or it just looks brighter on my screen (or a bit of both).
