I'm looking for the manuscript illumination of a group of soldiers in kettle hats looting a small building. A couple are carrying out a chest and guys are tossing things out the windows. I think it's French, late 14th/early 15th c. The source can be online or in a book- though I've gone through a number of arms & armor books looking for it with no luck. I found a redrawing in an Osprey book but I'm looking for the original. Can anyone help me?
Thanks, Clare

Tracy,
I sent an e-mail with a stored scan as an attachment. I believe Erik Schmidt id's this as being from MS Royal C VII Fo.41? I have some detailed scans of the figures to the left and the massacre of the Jacquerie scene from the same ms if you'd like them as well.

Caithlinn,
Thanks for resolving the verto/recto question as well as giving the shelfmark. Looking at Erik's post on this (searched under "looting house") he correctly listed the 20, but I failed to key it. Special thanks for the BL link. I've been looking for a color, digital image of the German "Massacre of the Innocents" for some time.

Hm,
The British Library only gives the vague information "End of the 14th century". The "Chroniques de France ou de St. Denis" however have more than one volume and seem to span more or less the entire 14th century. I haven't been able to find more information on the actual date of the folio in question, though, sorry.
