looking for affordable starter japanese set for sca

I've a friend who is potentially interested in sca fighting. He is leaning towards the samurai thing (sigh). He asked me if I could look into armor for him.

He's 6' 3" 250-260 lbs. Big guy.

We're just looking for basic stuff, can't do top-o'-the-line right now.

Would prefer more japanese than japanese-ish, if ya know what I mean.

Good close fitting vambs and elbows. The same on the knees. That stuff should be hidden. After that save for a helm and an ashi-garu level dou. The rest of a beginners kit can be done soft (cloth).
