Blacksmiths: I need a Center pole sleeve (pricing)

Post by James of York »

I want to commision a center pole sleeve for my 12' round pavillion. I could make one out of steel but I want it to have the blackened, hammered texture for a more period look.
It will need to be appx 14" long, about 1/8" thick with and I/D of appx 3". Anyone interested in completing this work or knows of anyone who is, please E-mail me with a quote at bchboy1206@aol.com

Did you get an answer on this yet? I know someone who would like the work.

What Height will the join be at? If it's say 8' then the connector could be multipurpose. I would suggest something like the top and bottom edges be formed into acanthus leaves and curl out to provide a place to hold lantern bails or clothes. Some cut sheet brass soldered on it would make it really spiff. Hmm some small rings that you could put removable swivelling arms to hold lanterns or candles would be nice

I'd bid on this but my shop is currently sitting on skids in the desert waiting for the building to get built. (and it's driving me crazy!)

If it's at 6' I'd go with something smooth to prevent head injuries...

Thomas, those are some pretty good ideas. I may have to look into incorporating them but I am not sure how high I will be able to put the seam as of yet.
Thanks Garth, for the e-mailing Blackheart.

Thomas, that's a pretty cool idea. I kind of like ours without projections though to simplify storage, but there's nothing in the manual that states the sleeve has to be stored with the pole. (Manuel? Who's that?)
