Meridian Grand Tourney-pics

Post by Aidan Cambel »

This event was so totally awesome. I have some pics, I wish I had more of the awesome kits on the field. the field was beautiful, the heraldic display was beautiful. the weather was beautiful. IMHO, this is what an sca event should be.

I must agree Aidan, it was small enough for no havoc and large enough that most of the best fighters the kingdom filled the field. Some of the matchups were breathtaking. Mine not so much, but I will do better next time.
It was an honor to meet so many of people that I have heard so many stories and who I consider legendary in the SCA.

*** **** ***** Best of All *** **** *****
"The Tournement of the Challice" sponsered by Earl Sir Richard Raefen raised almost $1000.00 which will be donated to a womens selter in the local area of the champion and donated under the tournament champions name.

Thanks for all who contributed to such a fine cause and to all who fought with honor and chivaly
Yours in service,
James of York

I agree about the tournament of the chalice. I only wish my financial situation had allowed me to participate in that tourney as well.

Indeed, this event was the best I have ever attended. Never have I seen such chivalry, glory, and honour on the field. In regards to the Chalice tourney, I know that Sir Richard had expected only a handful of participants, what with the $20 entry fee. That 46 fighters found the inspiration to enter that list, even though it was single elim, is inspiring, and makes me so very proud of this fine kingdom and her noble warriors. Aidan, know in the future that I would gladly sponsor you in any such fight; you are honorable and good, and I enjoyed getting a chance to talk with you again.

Really, words cannot express how much fun I had at this event. Thanks to all who participated.

King walks out and i'd been wearing both 12 ga helms for so long my neck compressed or something. I got dizzy and couldn't kneel or i'd have fallen over. So i stood there grinning and holding the rail like a moron.

This looked great dispite the plastic lamalar.

I've only been in the SCA for 18 months, and this was the eighth event I've ever visited and it skyrocketed to my favorite event. I only got to fight in two tournaments before I hurt my shoulder. I could have continued in discomfort but being that I've got a good long time left to fight I didn't want to push it.

If anyone can make it next year I highly highly recommend it!
