The Accolade by Edward Leighton

Post by Lucian Ro »

I have the painting, The Accolade by Edward Leighton, on my wall and I was staring intently as one does after a beer or two.
The individual kneeling has an interesting sword belt on, I was wondering if it is indeed factual or simply the fancy of Leighton?

Seems like it'd be a pretty interesting belt to make ...

The Belt is cool and the large over the shoulder coif and integral leather hood is pretty awesome too. My whole house is filled with pre-raphalite art as well as those medieval wall sculpures from marcus designs of England. Makes sitting at home alone with my 80 yr old copy of Ivanhoe and my glass of mead complete. That and and a bit of Loreena McKennit to listen to.

Aaaaaa! The Victorian middle ages! Aaaaaaa!

I'll bet that is the most owned poster in the SCA. :D I admit, my first garb attempt was a combination of that, a t-tunic, and all of the pre-raphaelite and period art that I had in all of my King Arthur books... :D
Do you not know that in the service... one must always choose the lesser of two weevils?

Wow, I like the way you think. You need to join our SCA household in Trimaris, my friend.

So, does anyone have any pictures or information to support the validity of the pictured belt?
