Ghetto padding

I have one of those martial arts padded head gear thingies...does anyone use this for helmet padding, is this enough to be legal (for the SCA)? do i need to add more or of a different kind. I know there are better and more authentic ways of doing it, but its sitting collecting dust and i need to pad a helm...

I pad my maciejowski style helm with one, I like it very much, and have never had any questions regarding it being enough. It is basically close-cell, and it does meet the minimum thickness requirement easily.

Plus it fits to your head and makes a nice snug fit for the helm, so it turns when your head does...

I used to use one "a macho head" in my bascinet. i just cut the ear covers off and it worked great.

It is leagal but it needs a strap. very easy to do.
