Review: Dagger by Kyle (Hal's apprentice)
Review: Dagger by Kyle (Hal's apprentice)
First, let me apologize to Kyle for not posting this sooner. I just grabbed the dagger when I got it and ran to my corner so I could have it all to myself. Well, I was playing with it today and realized I had not yet posted a review.
Here are the pictures:

Kyle made this for me by hand and I absolutely LOVE it! The wire is hand wrapped and the leather sheath is hand made also. It has a tool steel blade with full tang construction.
Very nice job Kyle, and thank you so much! Again, I apologize for the rather long delay in posting this.

Catherine's Quest is no longer in business. I may open back up at some point in the future. Thank you all for all of your support over these last few years. It has meant the world to me.
Hehe, this is MINE! I am collecting quite a few things that I am guarding jealously in my "corner".
By the way, I haven't forgotten about the shirt instructions. I'm making a "faux" shirt with long sleeves right now and have made some changes in the construction process. I'm waiting until the customer tries this on to put that together. This new way makes more sense, and I think it's going to work better than my first attempt.

Unless the tang is full length AND width, it's not full tang. If the tang is full length of the handle, but not the full width, it's a hidden/partial tang, regardless of length. (Sorry, personal pet peeve of mine.)

Hi Jamie,
I believe that misinformation came from my part. After you explained about my sword tangs not being a full tang. I understand.
This tang is about 1/4" thinner than the blade width. The cross guard sits on this difference. I guess I always heard it called that, like chainmaile.
Thanks for the enlightenment.
Hal
Cat,
I am glad Kyle pleased you.
I no longer have any apprentices; however I do have a couple of shop monkeys now and then.

Drachus,
I don't really know as this was a trade and not actually a purchase. Kyle did not have a computer, so all communication was done through Hal on Kyle's behalf. Since it appears that Kyle is no longer Hal's apprentice, there may not be a way to reach him. It is unfortunate.

Are the leather thongs to wrap around your thigh like a gunslinger's pistol? Is this a Texas thing, for quick draw?

Yes, they are to tie around your leg. In my case that would keep the sheath from bouncing around as I ran away (screaming) from my opponent.

No apology required. In my house, we've formalised it with what we call the "First Day Rule" - You don't have to share toys (or any cool stuff) on the first day you get them.
