Stainless Steel womans size 8

Post by Halberds »

Sabatons.

My wife asked me to make her some light weight snake boots.

The tops are not finished but this is a preview.

It's made from 28ga. stainless. She wanted snaps instead of buckles.

What wife wants wife gets..... if I know what's good for me.

If it's rattlers she's rasslin', she'll want those boots to rise to knee height, and a hard shell wouldn't hurt. You'll want something that's either too hard or too thick for a viper fang to get through.

Gaiters may be simpler to construct, though.

SUweeet! but I agree with Konstantin the Red, I used to make the rattle snake hunts here in Oklahoma and you need higher protection, maybe some heavy leather grieves (sp?).

Only wimps and wussies use gaiters for snake huntin'.....

...they're great if the snakes are huntin' you, though.

Thanks, The tops are still in the design stage.
The 28ga. stainless is lighter than my heavy leather.
I would like to do some full greaves but the wife is the designer on these.

They are for the copperheads in the tall grass and brush.

My armouring study is finally paying off

My first copperhead incounter went like this.My wife comes in. there is a snake out side.We were in a camping trailer.I say it's the electrical cord. She loks at me and says I know what a cord looks like Dumb ass.
I go out to look.Well it is a snake a pretty one too.So here I go all crock hunter style.I'm trying to get it by the tail and a grasshopper lands on my leg.Holy crap I think I have been snake bit.so here I am dancing around with my wife watching and telling me what a dumb ass I am.It was very funny.

Nice work by the way,

Well to be honest, I wore tennis shoes and cut off blue jeans back then, but I have grown smarter now. :D  They had a snake with his mouth sewn shut that you could get your pic took with and my buddie Eddy got us ran off cause he kept putting its head in his mouth as the guy was about to snap the pic... Rest in peace Eddy (not snake related)

I think Owen might have been looking for a nice breastplate. Yes?

James, Those metal cowboy boots are very cool. Thanks for the pic.

This is the finished project; Snake boots, using armour tools and supplies.

She says "Damn these are cool"....
I feel better with a happy client.

Hey... check out my new piece of brass I used as the back ground.
It is 24" by 24" by .080 thick. It will be cut into a circle and dished for a water fountain. See there is other uses for ones armouring tools.

Hear hear! let's hope this was 'back in the day'!

Hal, the boots are awesome. Maybe you could tool a mongoose on the greaves, to add to the psychological element of the protective qualities? My friend Jackie has an expression which definetly applies- "Why do it, when you can over-do it" :)
