What size for a center grip oval?

What size for a center grip oval?

Post by Cerebus »

I want to build a center grip oval out of plywood and I was wondering what is a common size or how to size it.

Thanks

I really like mine which is 24" wide and 36" long. After curving the shield it is closer to 22" wide. I use a vertical grip.

Aha! I hadn't thought of that point vertical or horizontal grip. Almost thought it was evident to set it up as vertical because it is a more natural posture for the hand/wrist. But maybe I'm overlooking something, does anybody use a horizontal grip?

Mine is about the same as this, so I think that is pretty "standard". My knight's is also approximately the same size, but he uses a horizontal grip.

I also use a 24x36 catseye in tourney, in melee I use the largest person I can find, and my grip is angled, neither verticle or horiziontal.

I'm 71" (5'11").
I think its 48". I'll have to throw a tape measure on it to check.
It covers from my knee to nose.

Here's some perspective pics:
