Challenge of the Heart, Atlantia

Post by WilliamThomas »

I was just wondering who all is going, and who is bringing a team up. We in Hotel De Byram will be giving a ransom to all teams that best us on the field that day. We will also be given tokens to those good gentles that inspire us with there deeds both on and off the field.

Sounds like fun. I wish I would have known about it before the May deadline. I'll have to keep an eye out for it next year.

Lord Jonah Mac Coghlan (Krieghund), Lord Connor Sinclair (Winterfell), and I (James de Biblesworth) are on a team. We will be fighting for the honor of our Baroness Belphoebe de Givet on team Baroness's Pride. We look forward to combating so many worthy gentlemen.

I, along with Lord Ringlancer, and Lord Feilan, have the honor of representing the Barony of Bright Hills as the Company of the White Horse. We are looking forward feats of prowess with so many honorable opponents as well.

Myself, Lord Domenico Barbieri and Lord Gustav von Silberwald will be there contending for the honor of Caer Mear.

This is the format that the Sponser of the Tourney told me about back in March:

"The tourney will commence with a procession to introduce the teams by
name. They will be sorted into two teams for a grand melee warm up
where you must fight someone from across the field first. Then a single
elimination tourney. Then open challenges.

All interspersedwith performers and diverse entertainments.

It should be a great day.

Richard"

One of many. I'm not sure if that is a Single Elim 3man tourney or a grand melee sorta thing. No clue. None the less, the holding of the field for open challanges will dominate the majority of the day. I'd like to see groups of teams fight over a barrier too, if there will be one, and ransom rules as well. I assume that teams can set thier own conditions as usual, as long as we don't do anything too far out there. (1,000 blows at the barrier, etc. etc.)

I am very excited about this event, and looking forward to it.

I will be fighting primarily with pollaxe.

Tachtical note: Run Ringlancer into the ground    I will be fighitng in coat armour and my shield with either 'Strength' or 'Bastard' with 'Brut' in reserve. I doubt my axe will be ready and unless my Lord requires me to be armed with Halberd I'm leaving that at home. Yes I too am excited about this event and hope it becomes a staple of the Tourney Season.

From thier website:

http://challenge.duncarraig.net/armour. ... 7323df1fa2

"On Saturday -
A grand Melee, a series of randomly selected encounters to include all the teams of the day, an open field for challenges between the teams, a marshal's choice round to feature picked combats, and an open field for single combats that any who bear some oath or in-debtedness to honor might relieve themselves of such a burden. I look forward to seeing everyone this weekend and hope that my team and I do not disappoint those who would strive with us upon the field. I would also extend the invitation to one and all to come by our pavilion to see the first illumination work of Lord Connor Sinclair de Winterfell. As usual his hidden talents have sprouted like spring tenders poking up from the snow--his work is quite fine for an untrained beginner. Those of you that know him understand his interest in all things relating to heraldry and some of you even owe him a debt in this regard (myself included).

BdeB: Don't forget to catch me at some point. I've got something for your squires.

Reminder: We will have the honor of striving with a royal peer as HRM Tristram, King of Calontir, will be fighting.

Second reminder: He's an ally this year, fellow Atlantians, so let's extend our typical Atlantian hospitality even further than usual and make it a great stay for him. HRM Denise had a great time at Lilies and was very, very well treated so let's do the same!

I'll definitely be there with my team. This is the event where I will receive baronial champions from other lands. (See the sticky topic in this forum.)

Forecast for Saturday is mostly sunny, highs in the mid-80s.
