Pull tab lamellar *pic*

Post by Prince Of Darkmoor »

Christ, I've actually managed to find a hobby more tedious than making chainmaille!

This is just a section of a set of bracers I'll be making for ren faire wear. There are 145 can tabs in there so far. It's being held together by flax twine, but I'll soon be running a length of hemp rope in there too.

Just thought I'd share. If anyone has a stash of these tabs and they're willing to part with them, let me know Image

Is this what the Ronald McDonalds House programs do with all those tabs?

I have a bunch of tabs (that's what comes of drinking ~8 cans of pop per day, and saving the tabs), but you can't have them! Nyah nyah nyah. Image

Ya know, I'm guessing if they had had pull-tabs in the MA, they would have used them :-)

You know, I've talked to several of the managers of local McDonald's here and they have *no* idea what the soda can tab program is. But I've heard of it elsewhere in the U.S.

Pheylin, I'll tell ya what. In order to help me work with real lamellar, I'll trade you one can tab for one lamellar plate Image

Hiya

The soda can tab program is for kidney dialysis machine time. Children collect soda can tabs to buy machine time, that is why ronald Mcdonald house collects them. I assume that the soda or aluminum companies donate the money for the tabs, like the boxtop proggies for schools.

Thats nothing Clay...

I did a square foot of similar stuff, but linked them together with mail. So one ring holds together four tabs. I planned on doing a shirt of this stuff for some reason, then decided it was way too much work for what it was.
