I've done a little looking, and have found a few references to help, but does anyone know where I could find, or happen to have a pattern for a helm, (mostly the eyepiece thingy) like the valsgard/vendel spangenhelm types. I've got a picture of what I'm sort of shooting for.
Thanks for the help

Just to confirm, you want a pattern to make the spectacle-thingy? Or the whole helmet?
AFAIK there aren' any patterns extant. Have you looked at http://www.missouri.edu/~rls555/SCA/res ... elms/V.htm ? That gives you the construction methods, though it still leaves yo to make up your own patterns. I think somewhere Halberds has put up a set of patterns to make the funny "Y" shaped pieces for the Valsga"rde 6 helmet, though. You might try doing a search on the AA threads for "Valsgarde" and see what you come up with.

It's not really armour if you haven't bled on it.

Thanks for the pattern Hal, that'll help alot. I'm going for the whole helmet, but I've got some alright patterns for the helm and stuff, the eyepiece thing was what I was most concerned about. Oh.. one other thing.... helmets that have the lattice work stuff like the valsgarde 6 and the ultuna(sp?) helm, would those be sca legal provided the stuff was heavy enough, and didn't have any openings that would let the 1" dowell through? Thanks for the info. Oh and thanks for the website Egfroth, I'd seen it in the past but haven't been able to find it. It helps alot.
