Armoury Review: GK Armoury & Welded Chain Mail

I just this week received my new helm from Kelson at GK Armoury http://gkarmoury.com/index.php . I ordered the helm on April 19th, and was told Ã¢â‚¬Å“turnaround time is under 3 months as it stands.Ã¢â‚¬Â

Excuse me but...HOLY SHIT that is nice! LOVE those 'nice brass vervails'!!

The details on the leather are a nice touch...how was the transition from sewing the aventaille onto the leather on the outside to the mounting in the area interior to the grill done?

split the chain, sew it to another leather tab that goes on the inside, which is mounted with quick rivets of some kind.

Edited to note: The quick rivets are in holes between the vervails. They're covered externally by the leather aventail mounting strip.

I think it looks darn sexy too. One of my annoyances is the aventail that's sewn to the bottom bar of the grill...looks weird. I love the look up under where it belongs.

My persona is fully SCAdian. LOL I like armour from 14th century onward. The biggest reason for the switch is that I was having problems with my 12 pound close helm on my neck.
