My Plan.

Okay. Either I need to get my plan in motion or give up entirely.
The first thing I need to do is buy some red Hampton Twill and take a sample over to Monkey Drive screen printing, where my drummer works. Then, I need to see what my device looks like when screened on the twill. I refuse to wear fighting garments without painted or embroidered heraldry anymore. Gotta move up, not down.
Then, I buy a crapload of the twill, and take it over there. Then I have to draw some type of giant grid with a disappearing seamstress pencil. In the center of each cross-line, we will screen my Goat. Dry each one with a heat gun. Screen them line-by line.
Take the finished screened material and give it to my seamstress to make my new Jupons. Whatever cloth is left-over will be used to outfit my personal heralds.
While the Jupons are being made, I will make a bunch of shields using the fiberglass resin method. NO MORE EDGINGS OF ANY KIND. Then I will paint the shields while saving up the money for step three- aquiring and painting a new tent. I may even make a high-relief 2D shield for a special occasion or for processions.
Since I work at the Louisville Ballet Scenery Shop, I have access to a gigantic wooden floor that is covered with clear plastic every few weeks. On this floor we design and paint backdrops. This will be the perfect place to paint my new tent. This shall all take til mid-Jan or Feb.
Then I get new leg armour, gauntlets and a new helmet with one of those new light aventails.
Then I start going back to wars and having some FUN.
Wish me luck. I need to sell alot of paintings and work alot of hours to squirrel away the needed funds, but I have dopne it before- I will do it again.

Vitus, I have made several fiberglass shields. They work but you are going to get more milage out of a wood shield by using a metal channel on the top and front edge and then gorilla glue a leather edge over the whole edge. The shield looks and acts correctly while being very durable. A fiberglass shield will last you about 3-6 months if you fight 2-3 times a week. The shield I described will last 1-2 years. Good luck, I painted my pavillion in about 40 hours, based off a couple of manuscripts so it is a flambouant as most that you can find in any illumination as my wife is a magpie.

Acrylic on Masonite mostly. My stuff is always labeled Outsider. The only influences I have ever been able to really identify clearly are Doug Allen and Daniel Johnston. I guess the only famous person I am similar to would be Basquiat (who I just found out about a few weeks ago-I don't know anything about art).
Some people think I'm good at it, others think because I was never formally trained that I should not be allowed to show in public. My stuff sells, that is all I know. My prices are kept punk-rock-working-class low, because I know working people cannot afford to pay thousands for a painting. I have been told over and over that I could ask for alot more and still get it. Screw that. Art is a scam. Everyone should be able to own it.

Veggie tan is the easiest to work with though brain tanned or suede will work great too! Raw hide will work but I am lazy I mean effecient and do not use it. I know Duke Maximillion from Merridies uses raw hide and it looks good.
