Japanese at Estrella?

Post by Aaron »

Good Morning,

I have a pair of friends from Japan who went out to Estrella.

Did anyone see them?

Likewise, I heard from Saionji-hime that they were present, but I did not get a chance to meet them myself.

I. Er. Barely saw ANYONE it seems. I missed about 12387190237 people I'd wanted to see, including anyone off here, d'Antioche (who might have been busy and everything).

I hope they had fun. I hope everyone had fun. (And, thread hijack -- if you have comments on the rapier scenarios at the War, please, start a new thread and lets discuss them -- not sure if anyone except a few here participated though...)

Lord Vail fought with the Ermine company and enojoyed his trip greatly. I believe he was recognized by our Queen, who put him on her guard.

Lord Vail and his friend camped with the Ermine Companie (West Kingdom). The slept in a "barracks" tent populated by three Western knights and themselves.

I invited him to fight with us during Friday's battles. He appeared to enjoy himself; we were certainly in the thick of it for most of the fighting. I did not see who he fought with on Saturday or Sunday.

Vail's friend (I am bad enough with names, let alone Japanese names) was filming and photographing everything. One evening we were reviewing some great footage of the Friday battles. He has promised me a DVD of the material once he returns home. Awesome stuff (especially the parts where I am clearly visible ;))!!

With regards,

Alfred of Carlyle (one of the three knights sharing the tent)

I saw two Japanese guys walking around speaking in Japanese...must have been them. I had no context to introduce myself, otherwise I would have. ):

Aaron,

Lord Vail asked me for my address but I never got around to giving it to him. Could you pass it on to him for me?

Thanks,
- Scott

Hi Scott,

Could you send it to me again at: miaullis@yahoo.com?

It might be buried deep in the files... :(

Japanese?

Post by Ironhand »

Not bad. Concerning the vagueness of the post, I'm surprised someone identified them that easily. At this Estrella War, I was almost shocked by the number of Japanese personas that were out there. It was still a far cry from the Norse or Scots numbers, but still there were a lot of them. I saw five of them just over in the Mons Tinitrus area. I just hope sometime to run into someone with a Heian era perona. Everyone always wants to be Muromachi (most of the time unless well researched you see a mishmash of Muromachi and Edo which is definately OOP). I've always enjoyed the Heian and Kamakura periods, but you never hardly ever see any reenactors duplicate those periods.

Aaron was referring to a pair of Japanese nationals, which a fair number of us understood.

However, if you are interested in Japanese personas, try the following URLs:

http://rhinohide.cx/tousando/clanmap/html/clanmap.html
(these are self registered and does not come close to mapping all such personas)

http://rhinohide.cx/tousando/clanmap/html/maptest.html
(under development)

http://tousando.proboards18.com
(a board I moderate)

About 10 years ago, there was a strong Heian/Kamakura Genji clan in the Outlands. Their numbers here have diminished, however.
