FS: Leather Armor Stuff! Cuirass, etc...

Post by Gerhard von Liebau »

Hey folks,

These pieces are by no means high quality, but I believe I made them strong enough to last a while. I haven't started my own SCA experience yet, and am prepping armor to get on the field. The mantle was made to go under the cuirass, to protect the shoulders from the buckles. If you'd rather have something soft under it, it would probably make more sense. The rivets on the cuirass are not peened well, but don't bother me when I have it on. It was my first piece, and I was rather hasty. They're done right on the mantle. A pair of laced up vambraces for someone with skinny, long arms is also included. I also made an experimental demi-gauntlet, but it's very restrictive of movement in the wrist, and probably wouldn't pass inspection, anyway... But, I'll throw it in, since it matches and I have nothing to do with it but curse it! I've also got a 14 gauge butted mail standard that I trimmed with leather and added a couple of buckles to. I also added small dags to the lower edge. It looks okay, and the mail was stripped of its zinc. Would probably hold up under use, but I'd suggest being ready to replace some strings now and then. The mail portion is 16" across, so it's for a smaller person, probably good for a woman.

I'm 6' tall, 160 pounds and have a 38" chest. The cuirass fits me great, since it was quite literally molded to my features! It's solid, and I've water hardened, baked and dyed all of these pieces. I didn't get the sealed with anything though, so that would have to be done by the buyer.

I'd like someone to make an offer for all of these things together, plus $20 shipping/Paypal fees within the USA. I am using the money for my trip to Austria next week, or for more leather when I get back, depending on how much I spend there. I'd mainly like to recooperate for material costs, and have some to use on buying more tools or materials. I also know the cuirass will be useful for someone, if not just as loaner armor for a smaller guy.

This thread shows and describes the vambraces, cuirass and mantle in more detail...

I'll take Paypal, at the moment. I need the money in my account ASAP, before I leave next Wednesday, if I have a buyer. Thank you so much!

I would like to add that Gregory is a true gentleman! I bought two swords from him recently, and he was 100% honest.

All of the leather stuff is sold, but the buyer opted not to get the standard due to shipping costs. So, I'll take $30, shipped in the USA, for the standard...
