Patterns for slat bed

Post by Ceddie »

I'm looking for patterns for a simple slat bed. I've seen enough of them at events that look the same that someone some where has to have them, I just need to find them.

Thanks

I just emailed you 3 PDFs of bed plans I have found on the net. I have not used any of them so, YMMV.

One thing to consider with slat beds is the bending of the slats when you put weight on them. If the inside ledge is to narrow and the slats bend to much you may find yourself sleeping on the ground INSIDE your bed frame. YMMV depending on your size or the weight you plan on putting on the slats.

putting a mortese and tenon slat in the middle across the bed can stop the bed rails from bowing out.

(on Pennsic) I know that movie. It is the 13th warrior. A bunch of guys in armour that doesn't match itself or anybody elses, go on a trip and argue and get drunk and get laid and then fight Tuchux.

Or you could always make your own plans. Thats what I did for this bed:

I'd share them with you if I had them but I wrote it all out on scrap paper and then changed it a bit as I went. The whole thing was made with construction grade untreated pine & lots & lots of elbow grease. It has held up over 600lbs with out bowing in the middle and conviently has a clothes rack behind the headboard.
