(To answer a question posted....)
There are 12 other open tournements The 3x3 (God I need a better name for this) is kept small so that we frankly can hold it. It's a style that Ragnarr and I created and I really, really would like to hold it again. The only way (Since Sapphire Joust usually takes a minuim of 4 hours) and honor all the Orders that are hosting tourneys was to make it an invite only thing.
My intention (tho I haven't talked to all the sponsers of that tourney yet) is for this is to be a best of the best showcase sorta thing. More later.
There will possibly be more small Speed tournies through out the weekend and maybe bearpits as well if I can get enough marshalls, etc.

More information on the Iron Man Competition:
The Bearpits themselves will be either 15 or 30 minutes in length. These will be wounds retained, no limit of fight bearpits. Winners will receive one point per victory.
In addition for every tourney that weekend (except the 3x3 tourney) you will be awarded 5 additional points if you fight and do not drop out of the tourney (going out 0-2 is fine, quiting is not). Winners of each seperate tourney will receive 5 more points.
Are you up to the challange? Is anyone? Will I collapse from marshalling? hehehe.

Actually, our MOL's (espcially your lovely Lady) are going to be tasked enough. If there are additional tourneys, they will either be 'pointless' and require as little work as possible or hardly any work at all.
None the less, I will not turn down gracious offers of help marshalling, Moling, heralding or waterbearing.

Three-man? I thought Mungo advertised up to seven per side. My entire household is gearing up to fight this one together...

That's cause Mungo probably tends to punch his keyboard when typing instead of pressing keys with his fingers.
This sounds very interesting Bryce, and our kingdom really doesnt have anything scheduled against it.
Might take a look at where its gonna be at, and how far from Pittsburgh it is. Maybe I can even talk a soon to be King and our Count buddy to come down with me.

Used to have a lot of fun with you at Emerald Joust Finn, hope we can do it again. I know Thier Majesties are hosting a Royal Camp, so you know you would be taken care of in style.

I was looking at it to, for similar reasons (lack of conflict in Æthelmearc, on a long holiday weekend), and the bastard sword and polearm tourneys especially caught my eye
As for how far it is, Google claims it's 370 miles from downtown Pittsburgh to the site, and takes almost 7 hours.

5 - 6 sounds more right to me - my family's in NYC, and distance is 420 miles, which I usually make in under 7 hours (including delays for two major toll bridge crossings).
I wouldn't follow the Google directions, though, I like simple, minimalist directions, even if the mileage may be a little longer; I would think I-70 to the Beltway to I-95 to Richmond and follow the site directions from there.
What route do folks from Richmond usually take to get to Pennsic?
Oh, and a question about one of the tourneys: what exactly do you mean by 'bastard sword'; I'd hate to show up and discover I'd brought the wrong weapon ... I suppose I could ask one of our local chivalry immigreés for an Atlantian-to-Æthelmearc translation, but this way is probably more definitive.

Hmm, havent checked the Mapquest yet, but if its the same route that I am used to taking when I used to go back to Norfolk, its not that bad.
But I know we started skipping that route and just going up 95 to 70 and across, cause it was just simpler.

.
The site is way south west of richmond, proper. Honestly, i'd have to look at a map and get back to you. I live south of the city and for me to get there I just jump right on 360 and boogie on out there. Takes about 20-30 mins from where I live.

Ah, my pennsic ninja route. I-95 to US-17 to RT 66 to whatever the heck that little highway is that goes to Berkley Springs WVA (27? 522?) to Breezewood to the Beltway. Pennsic (Slippery Rock, not Pittsburg) takes about 6.5 hours.

Well Justus posts on this board so maybe he can address this better since it was his idea (and i'm making him stick with it!). I'm guessing any greatsword shorter than six feet, but I have a suspision that if someone shows up with a six footer he will still let them fight....let's see what he says.

It all depends on the time of day. Fritz waits till late at night and drive straight through DC and makes crazy time. (He also drives like a nut)
I usually leave for pennsic around 6pm so if I drove through DC at 7:30-8 I would add hours on to my trip.
This site is really out in the middle of nowhere. (Which is sorta nice) There is a grocery store about 2 miles from the site, and a couple of small resturants. Otherwise, it's a camping event you know?
