? on wisby gauntlet re-creation

I've posted on ' Design & Construction' but have not recieved a reply. My question is- are the metacarpel plates attatched to a leather demi-gauntlet and then attatched to the glove? Or does anyone have progress pics of this re-creation? Any help would be appreciated.
