review: Mad Matt's greaves
Just got a set of Mad Matt's greaves and I have to say that if you're in the market they are well worth the money. Matt was quick with responses and even obliged my odd shipping request. Took me about fifteen minutes of polishing to get them to match the "texture" of my legs and now I'll pop straps on them and we're good.
I will get pictures of my kit this weekend at coronation and post them next week.
Five out of five... if you've ever thought of getting greaves get them from Matt you won't be disappointed for what you pay for them.

Yes they're $75 the ones pictured on my site are stainless I think so satin finish. don't have any in stock at the moment though so you'd have to go on the waiting list.
I wasn't worried about his shins just didn't want the greaves to get dented.

I got to run off to work so here's two initial pictures that I didn't take a lot of time to clean up or any such silliness.
I didn't get a lot of pictures but I'm hoping other people did as a lot of cameras were at coronation yesterday. I didn't get a good shot of my whole kit and hoping I can find one.

Hi!
Well, I got my greaves from Matt today. Nice work, nice lines, smooth transaction. Unfortunately, the immediate excitement was killed when I tried them on - they are far too short for me (around 2 1/2 to 3"). So if anybody in Drachenwald quite below 6'3" in height needs greaves send me a PM ...
Cheers,
William

William they're not supposed to come to your knees if that's what you're thinking. They're supposed to sit under your demigreaves which should extend about 6" or more below your knee center.
Also they're not meant to sit right on your foot. They need to be up a little or they'll hamper mobility.
I'm 6'1.5 and they fit fine for length. Got a 32" inseam. I can't see how they'd be 3" too short.

Matt, I can see your point. If you look at the guy in the centre of the picture above (beard, raised pigface, plaquebelt) he's wearing that type of leg armour. However, I'm aiming more for an earlier impression like the German man-at-arms with the padded cuisses at the left. Now, if you look at the greaves in relation to the knee cops you can see that these are much longer.
Hmmm. My fault. I wasn't aware that there would be such a difference in patterning. Anyway. As it looks like the greaves have already sparked some interest (welcome to Drachenwald, the land of permanent armour shortage ...). So no big issue on my end.
Cheers,
William

Hi William those ones are still close to 6" shy of center of knee. Either way sorry they didn't work out for you.
You'll have an easy time getting rid of them on e-bay if necessary. Feel free to snag the pic off my website for the purposes of selling them.
