Storvik Unbelted and Novice tourney

Post by wilmot »

Hi,
I had a great time meeting some AA members at this event for the first time and chating with some that I had not seen in a while. Congrats to Berach MacTavish (Tribune Darius's squire) on winning the unbelted tourney and to my squire William for winning the novice tourney.

William should be very proud of himself for his performance this weekend. He acquitted himself exceedingly well and is most welcome in Atlantia any time he wishes to visit. My only regret is that I did not have opportunity to fight him myself.
Your Grace is rightly proud of his skill and chivalry. It is always a pleasure to have our friends from the East show us their martial prowess. To those that weren't there, it was a great field and a beautiful day!

Krieghund,
Thanks, William will be at Pennsic and will (knowing him) be out every chance he gets fighting in the tourneys and pickups. He will be at Sarnac's novice tourney. The only thing he needs right now (his first event was less than a year ago) is a #@$%$ last name.

My squire brothers and I look forward to finding him on the field for pick-ups at Pennsic, then. His shieldwork is really quite amazing for a fighter with less than a year experience!

Krieghund,
Most of the practices he has gone to he has had either Duke Kelson, Tribune(Duke) Darius, Myself (I spend atleast half an hour with him at each practice), Sir Steffan, Duke Gregor, and the list goes on.... at them and he has not been shy about fighting and learning from them as well as the fact that he comes from a marshal arts background and does pell work every day after work. I feel that the area you live in has a lot to do with how good you get. I grew up in the SF bay area and had Duke Paul, Radnor, etc. to learn from every week and went from being the worst fighter in my new fighter class to being Prince of the Mists in 4 and a half years (at the age of18) and would not have been able to do it if it was not for the get better or die training I received.

I've added a few (okay, 230 some odd) pictures from the Novice Tourney to Bogpages: http://ursus.smugmug.com/gallery/1653912

Here's a sample:

Hope you like them,

Wow some cool images of the melees Ursus:

Image

Kong mace makes an awesome back up for spear. The fellow and I double killed after he legged me, I wrapped his back he got my helm, not bad for a lack of a shield

Image

I had the mace on my arm so I could just flick my arm a bit and it would fly up into my hand :) Came in extra handy when the shield presses happened during the bridge battle, people presented their helms to me thinking they were too close to my spear to worry about me ;) BONK!

Good seeing you Duke Ronald, Asbjorn, Kaliban, and I met BAmos for the first time. It was a fun event and I am feeling pumped to fight meeles at Pennsic.

Your Grace,
Since you are my Great-Grand Knight I would be honored to give William a new last name if he is unable to think of one himself.

"The Hammer" or , if you prefer, "Martel."

I'm going to give him until the end of Pennsic, and then just start calling him that. If William wishes it, I will help him find a name, persona, etc...

I had a great time at this event, , met and saw alot of archivers there, Faulk, Krieghound, Wilmot, William Thomas, House of the Wolf, James B., Justus, Im sure there are others who are sliping my mind. It was my first event as a subject of Atlantia and it was a blast. Can't wait for Pennsic, this year will be my first time.

Hi B.Amos,

I had a heck of a fun time getting trounced by you in the tournament. (Girl, third pairing)

You'll enjoy Pennsic no end. It's like drinking from a firehose. Way, way, way too much for any mortal to do.

Looking forward to playing with you again.

I didn't realize there was an Archive gathering, or I'd have said hello to Amos and Ronald. There will always be other times...

(on Pennsic) I know that movie. It is the 13th warrior. A bunch of guys in armour that doesn't match itself or anybody elses, go on a trip and argue and get drunk and get laid and then fight Tuchux.

Hey Blaine, Sorry to confuse you. I took off right after Potrero War, didn't tell many people, and am now living in Central Virginia. I had a chance to buy a hose out here, (somthing I don't think I could have ever done in San Diego). I'll miss you and all the regulars of the Caidian "Tourney Circut". I plan on making it back now and again for wars.

Cunian, I enjoyed our fight, I have never been pressed so hard in single combat as when I fought you. I look forward to crossing swords with you again.

Malcolm, Insane Irish has the right picture, I have spent the erlier part of tonight firmiliarizing myself with your squire brothers swords, and look forward to meeting yours apon your return from crusades.

Melrakki, you were soposed to tell him how much I suck so that he will take it easy on me   .
