Ha! This time I had my camera nearby and talked a spectator into snapping my photo. Here I am before the Broken Field Battle (see attachment below).
My harness is a Wars of the Roses style English "jack". In period it was constructed of up to 30 layers of linen quilted together but mine is a cheat with 1-2 layers of moving blanket hand quilted inside a shell of cotton duck canvas. The sleeves have plastic vambraces hidden inside and steel 3-lame spaulders as well. I have a linen-covered fiberglass body bracelet hiiden underneath for rigid torso protection---the jack is stiff but not quite stiff enough for safety regs.
The helmet is by Adam Berry of WMA and I have attached a riveted maille aventail to it. Underneath I have a riveted maille standard by HE to serve as a gorget. It is mounted to a stiff leather backing and rests over a tradition style very high jack collar (very good protection).
The legs are flat-black painted soupcan knees laced to black sports pads and worn over turnshoe style MRL riding boots. No thigh protection, just woolen hose (over a plastic football "cup"). The look I am going for is a mounted crossbowman, dismounted for foot combat---a very English notion. Circa late 15th century.
Cheers,
Tim

Thanks, Dante.
You might suspect the demi gauntlets would in fact get in the way or cut the string but they have not thus far. Actually, I used to use a metal demi on one hand and a leather demi on the other. You might remember seeing that before in photos of my kit. These demis were given to me by Jere Jameson for my Redshield kit and I thought to make used of them for Pennsic and eschew my mismatched pair <grin>.
At some point in the future, I may cover these with fabric, drill the edge and sew a leather edging on them. At present they have blue foam padding inside (painted black) but I'd love to swap it out for some linen padding---just for looks if nothing else.
Cheers,
Tim

Tim,
That kit is a fantastic inspiration for what I hope to do with mine own kit that I've been taking my dear sweet time to assemble this past year. I have a WMA kettle (although the aventail I'd never thought of, and might have to consider if I get more monies), and an armoured surcote like the one Adam himself wears (made by his wife, I might add), and I'm drifting towards getting a proper aketon and getting rid of my full arms (plastic, bleh) to just simple elbow cops. Maybe some simple shoulders just in case, and if I can find some good examples.
Crossbow's also what I've wanted to do once I get authorized. Who knows? Maybe we'll meet up next Pennsic and have a tally on who can peg more "honorable types"...

I posted my Pennsic pictures last night. They're Aethelmearc-centric, heavy on fencing and there's lots of pictures of me fighting.
So, on that note, I thought I'd show off some of my new armor:
The Three Faces of Illadore
Here's me as a 15th Century Fighter-type. I'm wearing an angel-wing tunic with a somewhat stylistic enterpetation of my arms: "Azure, a unicorn rampant argent within a bordure argent semy-de-lys sable." The fleur-de-lys are white because they show up better on blue fabric.

Here is me in my Japanese armor. I love my Japanese helmet. Love it. (It has horns!! WOOT!(Not shown tho, dangit.)) The rest of my armor needs a lot of work! I've lost weight since we did the pattern for the armor so it's going to need to be resized.

Elizabethan rapier armor. Oh, how I love this outfit. Lady Brinn (Quinn's wife) made this for me. It's straight out of the Tudor Tailor and done in trigger (to make it punch proof.) I may be hitting her up for another waistcoat, this time in linen so I can embroider it. I love the ruff as well.

Doña Illadore de Bedagrayne and I gettin' ready to lay the hammer down just before the second Pennsic Field Battle. Sadly, we didn't survive the battle, due to the murderous efforts of Clovenshield. *shakes fist* I'll get you, my pretties!

My own ham-handed efforts. In my own defense, I was in full armour for most of the combat photos.

From the Challange of the Hourglass (to be out on DVD by Friday!) We began with maces and worked onto pollaxes, polearms, hand-axes, swords, spears and madus (just kidding on that last one).

a couple of my favorites
These are the best action shots I got at the war, both on the pickup field.

I especially like the smile on Rosine's face in this shot. Or is that a grimace?

War can be very tiring, especially on the last day.

Ah, we thought you were still alive, as you just looked at us expecting us to make a move.
You had a bow, and neither of us had a shield. Hence why we kept an eye on you
