Latin, eh? Well that explains why there where so few educated people...those that could read it, used it, and had fewer kids.

So, the instructions are in Latin, which is the language of the Church? Does that mean the Church once approved of condoms for birth control???
As an aside, I think it is interesting that the RC Church approves of withdrawal as birth control, yet that is what Onan was struck down for.
(Onan's brother had died without heirs, and per custom Onan was obligated to provide them by impregnating the widow. Onan, resenting the child would legally be regarded as his brother's, did not complete the deed.)
What is commonly taught as Onanism (using one's hand...
) is actually wrongly named, and what is really Onanism is approved!

As an aside, Onan was specifically commanded by God to impregnate his brothers wife.
He chose to disobey.
God Killed him.
Why people extrapolate masturbation, coitus interruptus, or what not as a "great offense to God" because of this story is beyond me. What I get from it is:
"If God says to knock a bitch up, you better do it. "
Just like if he said- "shave your head". You do it. or get struck down and have millions of people, years down the line believe that shaving is offensive to God.
