Information on Langue de boeuf (15th century staff weapon)

Post by Villerica »

I am looking for information on a staff weapon known as a langue de boeuf (french name meaning literally "tongue of beef" or "oxe tongue"

I have looked through all my books and have only a written description. Does anybody know of any museum examples or reference book photos ?

I believe that it was a staff weapon used during the 14th and 15th centuries by foot soldiers.

Therion Arms has one - http://therionarms.com/reenact/com162.html

Basically a fairly broad-blade, long spear-head, with little taper along most of it's length, to the best of my knowledge.

That one is a toy http://therionarms.com/reenact/com162.html

What I am looking for is an authentic "museum" example of an object that was made to kill or wound people

Hardly a toy, possibly you mean replica.
Anyway, I couldn't find any pictures of actual examples in museums.
Just trying to help.
