Selling my Bascinet after all (Sold)

Post by Syrfinn »

Item has sold

Here is my ebay listing for it. Dropped the price down to $450 for Buy it Now.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0033131816

Just with my new helm being made, just no need to have this sitting on a shelf, when someone could get good long use out this helm.

Here is the write up.

Looking to get out of the 14th century and into my early period stuff. So my loss is your gain.

Selling my 12ga stainless steel bascinet helmet made by Duke Michael of Bedford, has attached a stainless steel welded aventail by Master Knuut.

Helm is already padded, as you can see in pictures with 2" open cell foam, that is inclosed in yellow velveteen, to make it softer on head. :) My head is 23 1/2" and this fits comfortably on it. Has two D rings welded inside if you want to attach a chin strap.

This is a great helm, and if it wasnt for me moving to an earlier time period I wouldnt be selling it. Have debated for over a month with selling it. But I could just get so much, if I did for my early period. It will last you for the rest of your SCA career, if you buy it. It is solidly made, and I have taken hits from some of the biggest guns in the SCA, and no dents.

Thanks for looking

This makes the third time you are selling it? :) Hope you find someone who will hold onto it for you, as I have read through your earlier topics, and you do seem to love this helm. I would hope you figure out what you would like to do, and be able to do it. I wish you the best of luck in your persona amnesia/time travel.

You almost sold that helm. (not that i NEED another helmet right now). I didn't see the last post until there were left than 3 minutes to go and then I couldn't remember my password.

It is ridiclous that will all the totally crappy SCA helms out there that get sold on Ebay that this one hasn't sold yet. Crazy!

Lol, thanks Bryce.

I am just guessing it has more to do with cause its used. Hoping it goes at $350, if not oh well will just put it on the shelf.

Though even used, it is better than more than half the helms I have seen on Ebay.

Duke Anton once ran over Duke Michael's bascinet with his F-350 Duelli pickup! It had some slight misshaping but Mike was able to fix it. This helm is likewise bulletproof. Blows my mine it isn't selling....people are crazy.

I"m contemplating purchasing this helm. How well would it fit a 22" head. I'm new to the SCA so I have no idea as to how fit will correspond.

22" head it should fit fine with the padding I have in it right now.

I have a 23" to 23 1/2" head. I think its closer to 23" and with the 2" padding I have in it right now, it is a tight fit. Shoudl fit a lot more comfortable on your head.

When I repadded this right before Pennsic, I forgot I had changed the padding to 1 3/4" padding 10 years ago, but didnt feel like redoing it, since all it was was tight.

Here are a couple of pics of me in the helm, and you can see it is tight. But for a 22" it probably would be just right.
