FS: Red and White Linen Gambeson!

Post by Gerhard von Liebau »

And this is the last sale thread for the evening... I promise.

I'm selling my beautiful red and white gambeson made by Brekke Armstrong. I was referred to her by Dan Houchins, whom she made another wonderful gambeson for (the black and yellow one). Quite a few people have asked me about this one! (Matt, where are you?)

This is made from two layers of linen stuffed with two layers of cotton batting throughout. It's in solid condition and I've only worn it a few days as part of a costume, and to one SCA practice. All of the hand-made buttons are still there and well attached. Between those several I wore it times some of the red has bled through to the white on the upper portions of the gambeson. I'm afraid I did not realize that I had to colorproof it myself, so this will be left up to the buyer to do in order to prevent further bleeding.

It will also need to be cleaned as its got a bit of dirt and dust on it from being worn. I opted not to clean it since I got it as I liked the look of it as being used, seemed more realistic for the little bit of event-going its seen.

I have a 38" chest and ordered it to accomodate up to a 41" chest or so. I'm 6' tall so someone of a similar height should not have problems with the length of the body or arms. This gambeson offers PLENTY of range of motion! It was made with SCA combat in mind and Brekke did a good job of it. I'd like $180 for it plus $20 s/h. Thank you!

*Bump* If someone can't quite afford it, I'll consider offers. No trades.

I did at the bottom of the post... Not body measurements per se, because I had her "expand" it from my measurements some to allow me growing room, so I can't exactly say who it would fit perfectly because I really don't know!

It's way to small for me (54" chest) but I have a potential Men at Arms that I could equip with it. I'll toss out an offer of $120.

I sold that breastplate on here as an auction maybe three months ago, Murdock. Looks like you missed it. Went for $110.

*Bump* Offer of $120... I'd prefer to get at least a little more than that, considering my asking price was $180. Would anyone give $150?

Noe, thank you! It is American dollars. Could I request $25 for shipping, since it's to Japan, right?
