What is the purpose of the hook on the back of greaves?

Post by Dierick »

I've seen a couple of harnesses with compression articulation behind the knee, that have a small hook on the top of the articulation. What is the purpose of this?

Honestly I have no reason for asking other than the knowledge of it. Saw it on the Sigismund harness and wanted to know what it was for.

I always thought that it was to keep the strap in place. the strap that holds the demi greave to the greave.

I am familiar with the way Josh's greaves work but I am unfamiliar with
compression articulation behind the knee

Has anyone seen Carmello lately?

This pic has horrible quality, but I'm sure everyone here can manage to find a clearer pic of the sigismund armour.

notice that the greeves are not correctly placed on the leg of the maniquin? thus the strap behind the knee should go in that hook. this would allow the lames on the top of the back greeve to extend up when the leg is bent
