Fighting in a Morion

Post by Hospitaller@Acre »

Anyone on the archive fight or use to fight in a Morion? Give me your opinion. I have a friend that is interested in doing a later persona.
Thanks,

He is looking at a border reiver persona. Burgonets or morions are the big choices...

Morions are great-looking, and have their pros & cons. Practically speaking for SCA armored combat, be real careful about catching lateral shots on the high fin, like the conventional on-side or off-side head shot - if it lands high it could torque your neck. On the other paw, I have observed them to shed a lot of shots that come straight down the middle.

This reminds me, Johann Coldiron, check your PMs.

A burgeonet is another really good answer- the 'dorsal fin' isn't nearly so tall, and they're just as plausible as morions. I love fighting in mine.
