1" stainless steel ring

Post by dave aka dave »

Hello everyone,

I am working on a chainmail bikini top very similar to the one worn on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue from a couple of years ago.

I'm almost finished with the main pieces, but am now at the point where I need a few large rings to connect everything together.

Does anyone know where I can get a 10 or 12 guage stainless ring that is about 1 inch in diameter? Additionally, I need 6 rings that are about 12AWG and 1/2 inch in diameter.

After digging around on the web, I haven't come up with very much. I'm currently living in a tiny little town in Eastern Europe, so finding it locally isn't much of an option.

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Seriouse sports fishing suppliers will have solid rings such as you describe in stainless.

Your other choice will be brass.

Another source would be a sailmakers loft.

Finally. They are available SOMETIMES from leather working shops. Most times they are however made of mild steel and nickel plated...and the weld is usually visible.

If you want to pay way way too much money for one you could always try the medical and hospital supply shops. They have all sorts of stuff in stainless. What you describe sounds like the lock-off ring to a sharps bag.

Failing that, why not wind and weld your own?
