REVIEW: Stonekeep stuff

Post by Gerrard_SFC »

I got my Stonekeep order today, and I'm excited!

I ordered a big box of confetti:

And I also bought some special Stonekeep Armory pens!

The confetti is kind of cheap, to tell you the truth. It just looks like scrap paper -- I was expecting something a little more elaborate for the price! And while the pens are printed with a beautiful and patriotic logo, they only write about as well as a plain old ballpoint.

However, I did get some REALLY COOL stuff thrown in with my order! How generous!

They were kind enough to include a set of splinted mild arms and legs:

And a pair of their mild "butterfly" spaulders:

All jesting aside, I'm really happy with these pieces. Because this is part of my first "newbie kit," I can't really compare the craftsmanship to other pieces with anything resembling experience. Objectively, the articulation is smooth, the rivets all secure, and the strapping tough and seemingly durable. All steel pieces are shaped very nicely, and show a care for detail that I wouldn't have expected from a "quick and cheap" armorer.

I can say that the price was excellent and customer service was outstanding. Both Mr. Spiers and his secretary showed remarkable restraint and good will in the face of my dozens of stupid questions, and made me feel like a welcome customer.

I was concerned about the size, because both my elbows and my knees measured right on the very borders of some of Stonekeep's "standard sizes," where one size might be too small and the next too big. But those worries were without cause -- these pieces fit me perfectly! They couldn't be better even if they were custom made. They're lighter than I had expected, as well -- but then, I have little to compare them to.

I haven't had the chance to give them a workout on the field yet (most of my Shire is off at an event watching a member get knighted), but I'll post an update if any issues crop up.

All in all, very satisfied so far. Stonekeep has a great reputation, and they deserve it!

I got a wonderful box of confetti recently. I left it on the floor in the living room while I tried out the pens on the dining room table. When I came back my puppy had completely explored the confetti and carefully arranged it throughout the living room with leaping circle jumps - I got a demonstration as I tried to clean it up. He definately appreciated the high quality and generous amount!
I'm very pleased with the rest of the contents of the box as well. Will likely be ordering some more to match in the near future.

Thanks,
Roisin

When I got my spring steel elboes in (which are awesome) I tried to read the confetti but found piecing it together took more patience than I had. I spent my time instead with the elbows.

Indeed. To me as well. Did everyone save your "confetti" for a party? Neither did I. *sigh* Ah, well. Hindsight, you know.
