It's a little known fact that in order for electroplating to work properly you have to have naturaly pointy ears. You can still accomplish it if you use the glue on ears... but the results are not as nice.

Well if that's the case, maybe I can sell my "orcish" gorget
. It's definitely *not* shiny, kind of a orangy-brown finish (stupid Gulf War rain, grrrr).

Must be twisted wire as the weight is 10lb for the coif. That's a bit of weight I'd say. I have an XXXXL elven shirt on the for sale page right now. Fits my over large elvish frame.
No mystical or enchanted coating. Just plain old elven mild steel. I can have the wife sacrifice a chicken over it if you want. No extra charge. You provide the curse.

That wire lookes like twisted wire. You twist two pieces up with your electric drill, like when making wire to wrap on the sword handle. Then roll it on the rod just like regular wire.
What would be cool is to use different color wires. ie: Gold and Silver.

Hal,
can you give me a short rundown on how to do this? I have been looking for stranded wire for swords for a long time and no find, so if it is easy to make could you give me some pointers?
Thanks
Sebastian

Take 2 pieces of wire, load them into your drill (straight into the teeth, act like it's a funny shaped drill bit). Clamp the other end of the wires into a vice, and turn the drill on. Medium to low speed gives a nice, tight, EVEN twist.
For the picture I posted above, I was twisting 20 gauge enamelled copper wires together (red and blue), and I just twisted until the wire broke.

Another way to twist wire is to use a pair of safety wire pliers ( can be found in the MSC catalog for about 20.00 dollars US) I've had good luck with .032 stainless safety wire. The trick is to twist the wire and then use a propane torch to anneal it, takes some of the spring out.

Here's another coif that he recently sold for a fare price.

So he has a good idea as to what the coif market will bare, but to ask for $300... well I guess it doesn't hurt to ask
