Medieval battle is joust what Kristina wanted, The Birmingham Post
Most little girls dream of being a princess for the day, but all eight-year-old Kristina Roberts ever wanted was to become a jousting knight.
That dream came true as she became the smallest jouster to take part in the medieval tournament at Warwick Castle, on her own 2ft 6in pony Buzz.
The horse-mad youngster learnt the ropes in a special training session before joining a joust in front of hundreds of guests and took to her role with ease, taking on one of the most seasoned riders in the tournament.
Kristina had written to Warwick Castle to ask if she could join the jousters and staff were delighted to help make her dream come true.
Mum Linda said: "Kristina has always got her head buried in a book about knights and horses. We came to see the jousting last summer and since then she's not stopped talking about it. She has even been practising at home with a mop!"
Richard Timpson, chief jouster, said: " We always welcome new recruits, but Kristina is certainly the youngest and smallest we've ever had.
"She was a delight to ride with and impressed us with her equestrian skills."
The Great Joust tournament takes place at the castle from this Saturday until June 1.
And now, a little story about jousting.

(Posted to my material culture blog the other day, thought some of you might find this amusing, too.)

This is AWSOME! and Warwick Castle is a beautiful place to be. If I still lived in the U.K. I would take a trip up there to watch this as it would be realy a site to see!!!

I have forwarded it to one of the guys with a daughter that age with a list of demands to be met to PREVENT me showing her that article.
She already has the waster I made her when she was 5. LOL.

I emailed the site to try and see what it would take to get permission to get a poster-sized piece made up for non-commercial use. I mean, I could probably do it with the online version, but I felt I should try that whole "legal channels" thing.
Of course, it might be worth it to suggest they sell them commercially to fund her future training.

I think you have color blindness issues. There is no green in Sir Vitus's arms. Although there is a pony on his shirt.

Will anyone in Drachenwald pick coordinating this up to get this girl a harness? I'd give anything for one of my girls to do this.
Even better, does anyone anywhere have a harness of the right size to get to her?
Thanks!

My daughters love it. Maybe we can get a copy to this awesome little girl in the UK. Maredudd, can you find if it is available in the UK? I'd love to send her a copy, (perhaps through you?)

Ya know, I LOVE the idea of getting this girls some armor but if she grows at all from year to year every piece is a temporary solution. Wade Allen has to build a new suit for his son yearly. (has to in the 'don't thrown me into the briarpatch' sort of way)
The thing to do is to find someone who has built children sized armor and has it on the shelf because it has been outgrown. She could be LENT a suit for a period of time and it would be far less costly then building new.
Just an idea.
