James River Armoury search

Post by Snaebjorn Hakonarson »

Hi all. I was wondering if there has been any word lately from Armourer Eric about him having issues or something of the sort on making new pieces.

I ordered a helm from him about a little over a month ago from him and paid him half down as requested but I can't seem to get a reply on email from him. I was given a rough estimate of about 45 days. I'm not sure if for some reason his emails aren't getting to my inbox or something which has happened before. (No I have nothing in the spam box.)

I was just hoping that maybe someone here might know why I'm not getting a reply from him. I'm really anxious as this is my first helm and I'm really excited about it. Everything I've heard, and seen, from Eric has been top notch and I've heard nothing but good about his customer service. So I am just getting a bit concerned.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

I got an email from Eric a few days ago with the pics of my completed helm. I also talked with him a few days before that. Per his forum post, he has been busy trying to knock out his orders. You may want to call him directly.

If you look at the California weather map, you will see that they are having a rather nasty heat wave and I know Eric did not go to his shop due to the heat a day or two last week.

He's just busy right now because he got a lot of orders in at the same time, give him some time and I'm sure he'll get back to you.

Snaebjorn, To ease your nerves...he will come through...he always does.
I bought my first harness mostly from him, and at first I did not understand why I did not get immediate satisfaction either by email or by product, but all of it came, and I was very pleased.

The more time and experience you get with armourers, the easier it gets. It is o.k., we all do it.

I PM'ed him a few days ago here asking about my order and received a prompt response.
He's still working.

Yup,
He is busy compleating orders. I spoke with him 3 days ago, and have recieved emails from him since then. I know he frequently works 10 or 12 hr. days at the shop, and often stays overnight, to save gas. He also does not have internet access at the shop. I would not worry about it at all.

Rough estimate of 45 days, it's been a little over a month.

"Sorry, I've been too busy answering emails about projects that are not yet due to be able to complete any projects. Thank you for your understanding."

When you've paid in full, the due date has passed and double, the guy has told you "It's in the mail"... then it's time to get worried about what's going on.

Right now, he may be right on schedule, looking to nail that 45 day target cold.

Relax. You'll get your beatings soon enough

He contacted me a couple days ago to arrange shipment for an item.

Eric has beenvery relaible... and a month isn't a huge deal. Just be a leetle patient.

Oh I'm patient. Was mostly just wondering if everything was ok with Eric. I'd heard about the heat wave and the fires that have been happening in california.

As I said in my original post I was mostly only a bit concerned.

Like most said here, his stuff is always worth the wait. Some times I just get worried easily. *shrugs* No doubts he'll contact me as soon as he can and let me know that I need to send him the rest of the money. Honestly I'm almost looking forward to hearing I have to pay him far more money then I can actually afford at the moment. *laughs*

As for the estimate. Hell I've taken 3 times as long as I estimated to get a piece done because I got swamped and I didn't like how the piece looked the first time I got done so I took it apart and redid it. (Admittedly far easier with leather then steel.) I know that sometimes it takes longer to get work done then you estimate. Its just how it happens.

Gavin. I'm not to worried about the beatings. I have plenty of other pieces of armour that need to be finished before I can get on the field. Namely need to order the shield boss and elbow and knee cops. Once I get my helm I have to take that to the local maille worker so he can attach the aventail on it. I'm also in the process of trying out an idea I had to spiff up my sword some without paying even more money I don't have.

Hey,

I'm just reading this post, I don't think I have any emails from you :(. I did just address your helm status on the Classified this morning , I rarely have time to look at this forum, sorry for stressing you out, but nobody told me you were looking for me here. IIRC, you are getting the norman that is just a wrap up of a partially completed one. I'm figuring 3 weeks on that one. All these different names/emails for the same person gets confusing. I just checks, I've had no emails from the Sneaborn address since May 22

I think what's confusing to is that I have 2 Norman Helm orders, they look like they are both from "Adam" and both in the eastern part of New York :)

My records are:

Adamo,Adam new norman, Long Island

Sneaborn/skywalker?/Adam, complete existing started norman, Wantaugh, NY

And By the way, what are the respective Adam's last names? I know one is Redler

Adamo is Adam Redler. He lives not too far from me.

Eric,
I'm Adam Redler, I live in Wantagh, which is on Long Island.
My e-mail is skywlker85 (at) aol.com.

It seems like you have my information spread out over both Adams lol.
I hope there hasn't been any confusion about measurements?

Adam

P.S.-Thanks Joe.

My name is Mark not Adam. And I'm up in Camden NY. Which is Central NY and a damn good haul from Long Island. (6 hours or so. Not entirely sure.)

Mine was a wrap up of a partially completed I believe. Was supposed to have brass on the brow band and nasal. Had a 24.5 inch head circumference so you thought you might have to get a new helm top you weren't sure.

Apparently the emails I did send didn't get through. Kinda figures I suppose.
