This helmet is mild steel and has a 12 gauge top with the remainder being 14 ga. It's sized for a 23" noggin, give or take a bit. Note that if you have a very thick neck, this particular helmet probably isn't for you, but it should do fine for us mortals.
I tried to make it look AS MUCH like the real thing as I reasonably could (with the exception of the damn bar-grill!). I followed Simkins' suggestion that the original J could actually have been of Italic manufacture, and put a twist-on type crest-holder on top instead of a slide-in type. The crest-attachment rings front and back are attached with brass split-pins, so they can be easily removed.
It's beefed up for SCA combat, of course, but I put a lot of work into trying to give a good impression of a Roman hat. The down-side is that it got a bit pricey in the process.
Asking $755, and I'll throw in Priority insured s/h in the US.
Any questions, please ask, and thanks for looking.
