Interest in a Crusader Battle at Gulf Wars next year?

Post by Hospitaller@Acre »

Brother Gilbert and myself were wondering if there would interest in a crusader battle at Gulf Wars next year? All with period armor would be welcome to attend. What are the guide lines do they use at Pennsic? We are looking at the possibility of sponsoring one. Thankyou for your input and for interest!

Please, if you are going to do this, you need to recuit some hardcore people to be the infidels or just plan on the Crusaders fighting each other.

Chello!

While my persona is firmly late 14th, my household (and knight!) are Crusader era. I should have my gear together by that point (have riveted chain byrnie, need an appropriate helm and arms). Count me in. :)

I'll also pass this along to Sir Ian.

On the slight chance that we will be there just what is a Crusader battle?

All of the folks in crusader armour and heraldry vs the horde of "infidels" with no shields but rounds?

Greeetings!

Karl, ideally, the other side woul be made up of Saracens. Theer are pics at the Company of Outremer site (Midrealm) of events they have done crusader battles at, including Pennsic.

Looks to be jolly fun. GW can probably pull off a good one. Only prob is that the schedule is fairly tight. But we'll see! :)

Has anything come of this? I just looked at the Gulf Wars schedule and didn't see anything about it.

Thanks,

As it stands this year, we have
a 14th C deed of arms on Fri from 2-5 inside the fort. same as last year.
a 1066 +/- battle on Thurs from 1-4 inside the fort

Next year, I want to add
a crusades battle as well and (if I can make it work),
a Classical age battle.

I freely admit that 2-4 are not my box of rocks so some one else is going to have to pick up the ball and run with it but the SCA is abotu more than my passion (14th c.). It is important to me to see that everyone get the chance to get their mediveal geek on so I'll see to it that the time and place is secure, it's up to you guys to show up and make it come to life.

That depends. Can I, as an infidel, ride my horse in a big circle around the battle and lob combat arrows into the battle? I've always wanted to do that.

Seriously, my kit may not be quite up to standards, but I would love to play. I'll have to see what I can come up with by GW.

Sure, can't guarantee the horse will call it.... or if she does that she won't get mad and want for revenge.

Sure you can ride your hose around in a big circle. I'll just have my Turcopoles wipe you out and then carry on.

I so want to do this except doing with a Romans and Germanics or Other tribes the Romans fought with. Even using spear and shields as well as pilums to throw at them :D Maybe someday...
