I particularly like the style of camail strap shown on the man with the bascinet and short sugarloaf heaume -- rising at an angle from center rear in an almost straight line to the upper corners of the face opening, using an estimated 16-17 tunnel vervelles on a broad, plain, 1.5-2"-wide camail strap.
Period proof somebody did it that way too. About any imaginable layout for camail straps seems to have been tried at least once.
