My first contact joust in 10 years....

Post by Leo Medii »

I was lucky enough to get back in the saddle and employed with a part time joust group.

1st pass, 1st show.

Still. got. it.

Was that fall for show, or was he hit so hard that it actually unbalanced him and he fell off?
Yeesh! That looked like a painful landing. No wonder they don't let us do it in the SCA.

There are no planned falls during the joust in our show.

Got him right in the sweet spot of slightly to the left side dead center mass. Off he went!

Going to post some more later. Nice hard hits. Lots of fun.....

I would not be able to get up from a fall like that, jeez, I just slipped in my driveway last winter and hurt for weeks.

The impact of the lance Id love to experience, ass backwards of the back of the horse could suck, although I have taken amazing spills skiing but I still doubt its that same.
Come to think of it I have not been on skiing in years, its the aging joints that worry me.

When you are done with the surgeries and all healed up I'll meet you half-way at our training facility in Ohio. You can give it a try at the lower level and see if you want to try it with the real lances.

I know you have armor! So.....

That was just awesome.... I want to do that! I have a belgian that with some work I'm sure wouldn't have a problem with it. I see you're all on draft or draft crosses. I'd love to talk with you some more on how to get involved, or just pick your brain. I'm an SCA equestrian and basically live on my horse lately. Where can I get more information? Where can I see this live? Once again... AWESOME!

What joust group?

Freelance. I really don't/didn't belong to a group. It was the company Brothers In Arms that did this show, and my cousin brought me out because they were short of a guy due to injury. I filled in for someone who took a fall in Mass a couple weeks back.
I must have done well, as they asked me to be available in the future if I was interested for more work.

I would just love to learn to ride a horse. Not nearly enough equestrian stuff in the SCA IMHO. That looks like so much fun. A whole box of Kudos to you.
