Dude - I need a Dell...

Post by Cat »

This is a long shot pricewise, but I may be looking to buy two desktops (doesn't have to be Dell :D ) in used, but good working condition. I would like them to be dual processors, and prefer two gigs of ram, but would take a one gig if it was a one gig chip (instead of two 512s). Win XP is ok, but prefer Vista. The proper restore disks must be provided.

I think we paid like $350 for ours new a couple years ago with similar specs, but I would need them to come in at $250 or less including shipping. I would be interested in used flat screen monitors as well. (in good working condition)

Like I said, it's a long shot on price, but lemme know what you have. I want to point out that we are just looking right now, and will make a decision based on what's available on Black Friday (which isn't much at this point) and how it compares.

check your local Craigslist.

Although at $250 and dual processors your choices are going to be pretty slim.

I just got back from wal-mart and I noticed they had some new sytems out that were close to that price. they weren't top of the line, but it was still a good system. Only downside was it did not come with a monitor. But I would still suggest looking there

Daddy wantee, too.
I'd quit SCA if I had that thing. It's a spaceship. I'd get so deep into Eve Online I would never be seen again.

Heh.

You can build a pretty amazing gaming computer if you put the parts together yourself...

Ultimately no game is going to push that machine to it's limit, so why the excess? You could spend $2,000 USD for the parts separately and build a machine that would kick the crap out of any game you could put on it. I just built one for $1,200 that is by far good enough to even play things like Crysis at maxed out settings. Other games like wow or warhammer or eve aren't much compared, I can actually play 3 copies of them at the same time.

And if you can make armor you can build a computer. It's pretty simple. Crap, you could make a beautiful case out of stainless... Hey... that might be a great market! 1/2 of alienware's sales is because they look so slick...

Heh, they even recently came out with a stainless mouse for WoW...

These guys have a proven track record with me, for both quality low end machines, and superb customer service. I did some contract work for them at my old job and was amazed by the smoothness that they moved things along.

Cat,

You might want try checking out Wally Mart, for an affordable laptop. Last week they had a special for $289.00. I have a buddy working there, and he informed me that there will be even better deals this coming Friday, if you don't mind getting up early.

I won't do Black Friday shopping unless I have a full war band backing me up. Good god, how do people DO that every year?

Suggestion for youtube video-makers: a video with footage from the Pennsic field battle edited together with footage from the doors opening on Black Friday. You could do footage of people standing in line together with footage from the bridge battle.
