Seeking review of Bokalo Armory

Post by freiman the minstrel »

Gentles,

If you have done business with Bokalo armory in the last year or so, please review that business transaction for me.

Please tell me when you made the transaction, and rate the transaction on the following four criteria

Price
quality of gear (regardless of price)
customer service (communications)
and
on time delivery

Please rate each category from one (unacceptable) to five (excellent).

thank you.

I placed an order consisting of; a set of knees w/ greeves, elbows and gauntlets in january of this year and I received it by the end of march, which was dead on the time he gave me.

The quality of the armour was good, I had to adjust the greeves a little but otherwise everything is very comfortable and works great.

The price is excellent especially considering the usual turn around time and the quality.

Communication was very consistent and all of the questions or issues I had were addressed within a few days of emailing him.

I feel that if you do business with Bokao's Armoury you will not be disappointed.

Have a set of his aluminum gauntlets. Price was great, got them quick, and they work great.

My brother Madach has a set of his aluminum cat's ass gauntlets. The quality is outstanding, especially the thumbs. Certainly triggered a flare up of G.A.S. (Gauntlet Acquisition Syndrome).

I hope to see him at Gulf Wars.

Thanks,

I need to give each rating a numerical ranking.

Am I correct in saying that you are scoring these,

Price Excellent (5)
quality, regardless of price good (4)
customer service (communications) Excellent (5)
and
On time shipping Excellent (5)

Am I right about that?

Yes sir.

I can attest to my brother's sentiments as well, if it will help:

Price: 4. He felt it was a good deal.
Quality: 5. I saw them... they are awesome.
Customer service: He seemed pleased with the deal (5)
I believe he picked them up... so no shipping to report on.

Hope this helps!

Gauntlets, Purchased at Pennsic 4 years ago..

Price $90 at the time more nowadays but I'd give it a 5
quality of gear (regardless of price) Excellent 5
customer service (communications)
and
on time delivery Not Applicable as this was a face to face purchase at Pennsic

If it's of any help to you one of my household members is buying a Helm from Bokalo as we speak. It's a custom job and so far I have heard Not a thing in least bit damning regarding the process to this point.[/b]

Bought metal elbows and knees from him (some of his express stuff)

Quality was perfect (5)
Price was the lowest I've ever seen (5)
Got to my house in about a week. (5)

Can't rate is customer support as I never e-mailed him except to thank him for the good deal.

He rocks.

I have personally known Dan (Bakalo) since I started in the SCA he has devoted time and money to make armouring reputable.
His armor is cheep, very well made, and functional. Some minor mods might be needed but that could happen when you buy from anybody. He is a stand up guy, and I call him friend.

The only bad thing I can say is, if you want dead on historical armor it would have to be custom from him. Custom work is not his focus at this time.

What you see on his site is what you get. in a timely manor, no excuses.

Thanks guys,

Bokalo now has more review cards in my box than any other armorer. I think that I have enough reviews to confidently give him a rating, if anybody asks for it.

I'd like to add that his customer service is very good. I ordered a pair of aluminum demigaunts through his Express page. They seemed fine for quality, but they were too large for my tiny wrists. I returned them, and he gave me a full refund very willingly.
