Opinions on Truehearth armoury

Post by Urdok »

Hello- I've been in the hobby for a bit over a year, and I'm looking to upgrade my current leather kit to a metal one. While I intend to make some of it, I simply lack the skills and the time to learn them to make some of the other parts, so I've decided to purchase them.

Specifically, I've been looking at Truehearth Armoury. The prices seem right for me and the gear looks good, but I'd like the opinion of people who have purchased from him in the past. In particular, I want to purchase a pair of mitten gauntlets, and I'm concerned about the fit and articulation, since I won't be there in person for a fitting.

So who has dealt with Truehearth in the past, and what was your experiance like? I've seen their name come up in threads for starter helms, but I didn't see anything about their body armor. Thanks in advance.

Truehearth is honest, quick, skilled and inexpensive. For beginning armour I would suggest his work highly. But the last time I bought from Carlo was 1997.

Carlo is a great guy and an artist. I thought he was leaving armoring to go to the military, but if he is making armor again it is good news indeed.
I have his greaves, and their fit is excellent.

I have bought several things from him to include a VERY well made set of arcticulated clamshell gauntlets that have held up to steel us for several years. His service and time were right on for me as well.

He's been making quality stuff and has been reliable for around 20 years.

He did join the military and stopped armouring during his basic training. We heard from him a couple months ago that his basic was finished and he's armouring part time again but haven't heard from him since.

If he is making armour you can't go wrong. Post here or tell him to if he is.

I've ordered some Japanese armour from him - the last time was about a year and a half ago - a kabuto and some suneate. He was making both orders for the first time and with no fittings. Everything fit _perfectly_. Highly recommended.
