Finger Gauntlet Details

I have recieved several requests for pictures of my Finger gauntlets. These were made by John Gruber. They are used with vambraces that nest into the leather cuff.

So the fingers are not riveted to the gauntlets but rather "hooked" by those little rings?

DO you ever find the little rings or staples to hook or clothing, armour or weapons?

So what about these make them superior to other finger gauntlets you have? Not being snarky, honestly interested, because that would help focus the eye to what makes them superior in that fashion.

What makes them work so well is both design and execution.
Design. The fingers are attached to a rider plate that articulates off the sides of the main body of the hand. This allows the hand and fingers to move in their normal relationship. The outside two fingers articulate at the second knuckle like teeny little knee cops. rivited to the steel, not articulated on leather. The gadlings of these two fingers ground on rattan. The inner two fingers articulate on leather, but are kept safe by their more sturdily armored neighbors. The thumb is all articulated steel to steel, no leather and thus all impact is carried to the main body of the hand, which has enough mass to be safe. a direct shot to the end of my thumb along the major axis does not result in injury.

Execution. There were easily a dozen fittings to make these fit like, well, gloves, and John is an artist. He also made my face mask.

I tried to make a pair with all fingers all steel articulation and found that too bulky . Thanks for the description! I'll try this style and post some pics
