brass work and SS roundel elbows

Post by Samuel »

Ive been talking about redoing the pattern I came up with for the roundels I did eons ago and finally im in the finishing stages..

the Knees are not my work ( the stainless) theyre luther anshelms. they where at pennsic and I immediately saw brass in thier future:-D

any input would be nice ( the recent pics start right after the bascinet, DOH I should take pics of that as well since its got all new fittings, maybe later....)

if that dont work there is

in the armor file.

the next project is getting started in two weeks ( I got shop time then in adrianos shop.) Im going to make an early bascinet that stops at ear lobe level and is finished out with splints ( for sca legal) the aventail will rivet under the edge of the helm and the grill will be welded into the face edge so I can brass it out.

(ref the inspiration pic from osprey Warror #58 (photo in link)the no#2 helm with brass along the top center and around the face opening, I dont think Ill do the small scales on the aventail, and yes Ill be looking for a WELDED aventail for this one, my riveted SS aventail is falling apart after three years)

Very cool. That is the type of knee I'm planning to make. The brass really dresses them up.
