"Chevaliers"

Post by Fred Piraux »

8 quality competitors, including IJL affiliates from various groups (Knightly Arts, Excalibur IDF, St Guilhem, Hackamores), were drafted to take part in the shooting of a documentary called "Chevaliers".

The whole piece, to be released in december 2009, is a 3 X 90 minutes production for the French History Channel and 1 X 50 minutes for public television.
The documentary includes, among many other things, a competitive tournament that took place in Cathares castles of southern France from April 13 - April 17.

Several castles hosted the various bouts.
Jeremy Oneail (USA) ended up winning the competition in a final versus Niko Beguin (Belgium).

The whole event was an amazing adventure for all participants who only wish the production loses the recordings so that they get to do it again !!!

Hi there !

I have my doubts a french TV production will ever bear dutch subtitles !!!
But we can probably organize a private viewing for our international friends. :D

Hackaland is going to be a ball !
We started the posters and banners invasion of the city this morning just after recording the radio interviews with sponsoring stations.
Promotion is going strong and pre sales are up to expectations.
Everything is ready... all we have is to do it and move over to France for the next league tournament !!!!
See you there !

Cheers,
Fred

Now if we can get them to fix their grammar...!

"Like you and I"??? Jeez. [Would you say "like I?" Same rule applies even if you have another pronoun in there too.]

Pronouns have declensions in English, dammit. Not as many different forms as there are grammatical cases, but they're there, dash it all. Use their proper forms.

That youtube video was fantastic! The fighting was very explosive and looks like it would be addicting to partake!

Alas! No chevaux to go with les chevaliers... too bad that the producers didn't choose to add that into the mix!

Cheers!

No worry sir !
The "chevaux" side of it should be discussed and on the menu shortly. We just need to convince $people to invest a bit more.

The producer will already attend several IJL event in 2009 to figure out and discuss the whole project.

Cheers,
Fred

Excellent, Sir! Glad to hear of it, and that the producers are seeing good sense. No use letting such a wonderful resource as the pageantry and glory of the joust which you fellows can provide to to waste just because it makes them scramble for some decent funding. Bravo, and I look forward to seeing it!

Cheers!

Any combat/armor rules in English. I want to steel fight. With real force.

Hey Thorstenn !

"With real force" is probably deterring in you request.
Despite the fact we organize such events all year long and most people comment them as "quite tough" as a tournament organizer, I always freeze a bit when facing such requests.

I like to think we do not use "real force"... We just try to push the limit a bit. Most of the time I like to say we play SCA with steel.

Cheers,
Fred
