hinges

Steve, what would you say to someone making maille in some strange way "cause he thought it looked medieval"?

What time period are you aiming for? Location?

I have a couple of books to hand that have some 16th century english examples in them:
"Fixtures and Fittings in Dated Houses 1567-1763", "Antique Iron, Survey of American and English Forms 15th-19th Centuries"

"Wrought Iron and it's Decorative Use" has some 12th and 13th century examples.

Mastermyr comes to mind for fairly early NE.

I could probably dig up some Spanish and German examples with a bit of looking in my library...

Dang, this was supposed to go under Steve's ironwork for chests thread!

Forgot to add "Decorative Antique Ironwork", D'allemange
