Yesterday I had the pleasure of being at a one-day mini event/demo put on by the Shire of Owl's Nest. We heavy fighters had an informal bearpit tourney.
It was fairly hot, and toward the end I think we were all tired. Then we had this sequence of events:
1) Sir Connor is fighting his squire, William. William throws a leg blow that, purely by accident, tags Connor's knee pretty good. Sir Connor goes down on the ground, and is done fighting for the day.
2) William stays in, and I go in to fight him. I throw a blow that, as William moves to block it, skates up William's arm and somehow catches him on the palm of his hand, under his demigauntlet. William goes down on the ground, and retires for the day.
3) I stay in -- chagrined at what just happened -- and young Crispin comes in to fight me. As we move toward each other, in the very first second, I lift my left foot to begin a pass -- and Crispin throws a leg blow that somehow gets under my left poleyn, and tags me on the knee right on the patellar ligament. Like Connor and William before me, I fall to the ground, and decide I've had enough for one day.
So -- three fights, three injuries, nobody doing anything wrong, just getting a little tired and sloppy. Fortunately, we're all three just bruised, and everybody's still friends.
Good times.

I had my own embarrassing event there while doing cut and thrust that I don't want to go into. It did make me feel like a pile of balls though.
But all in all an amazing event. Did not know you were there Adriano or I would have come over and said hey. My rapier teacher, cadet sister and I all came together so just ended up doing rapier since there was no room for my shield/armor in the car. My friend Jeff (wore the fox head tabbard and used the big wooden kite) fought heavy and said it was a blast. Never seen the guy fight that much
.
There was about 90 people in all. Some good heavy fighting I saw and just tons of rapier folks. They also had an illuminations table set up and that was really cool.
Will definitely go again if Owl's nest and company hosts it again.
heres some pics that Jeff Combs took.
